Defensive Driving Courses

Insurance and Point Reduction Course:

• A class consists of 6 hours of classroom discussion and videos. There is no behind the wheel driving.
  
  
• A class can be taken once every three years for insurance reduction. The reduction is a minimum of 5% off the comprehensive portion of the insurance only and is done at time of renewal. If you have 4 or more points your insurance company may not give a discount (you should check with them).
  
  
• A class can be taken once every five years for point reduction. Two points will be taken off your DMV driving record only. The points are removed the day you complete your six hour course, although it may take several weeks for it to show on your DMV driving abstract.
  
  
• A 16 year old may take the course but it is up to the insurance carrier if they will provide any additional discounts beyond what the student is already receiving.
  
  
• If you have an out of state license you may take this course but there is no guarantee that your insurance carrier will provide you with the discount or your state may not reduce your points since this course has only been approved by the State of New Jersey.
